Why Ministries Matter: Growing, Serving, and Connecting

Ministries are at the heart of our church, providing opportunities for people to grow in faith, serve others, and build meaningful connections within the community. Each ministry plays a unique role in nurturing spiritual development, whether through worship, outreach, discipleship, or pastoral care. From small groups and youth programs to community outreach and support services, our ministries create spaces where individuals can discover their purpose, use their gifts, and support one another in their faith journey.

Having active ministries is essential because they allow the church to fulfill its mission of sharing God’s love in practical and impactful ways. They provide support to those in need, offer guidance and encouragement, and strengthen the church as a whole by engaging members in service and fellowship. Ministries help foster a sense of belonging and purpose, ensuring that everyone—regardless of age, background, or life circumstances—can find a place to grow, serve, and experience God’s grace in action.

The Basement

We are currently fundraising for refurbishment to enhance our community support efforts. Rather than a traditional “food bank,” which can carry a stigma associated only with addiction, we are creating a welcoming space for everyone in need—including the elderly facing loneliness, individuals with mental health challenges, and those struggling with various hardships.

Now known as The Basement Café Community Hub, we are a safe, non-judgmental space where everyone is valued and supported. Here, people can find warmth, kindness, and connection. In addition to offering free hot meals, drinks, and emergency food parcels, we also help connect individuals with other services and support groups that can assist them further.

Conservatory

Open Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm, the Conservatory Café is a welcoming space to meet, relax, and enjoy great food at affordable prices.
Try one of our delicious toasties for just £2—you won’t find a better deal in town! Enjoy a freshly brewed coffee with a scone or tea cake for only 90p.
We’d love for you to stop by and say hello!
More than just a café, the Conservatory also serves as a gateway to church-supported services, including emergency food, clothing, and other essential items for those in need.

Broom Tree

We are committed to supporting individuals facing mental health challenges by fostering a welcoming and inclusive community. We believe the Church has a vital role in providing encouragement, belonging, and spiritual growth for those who may feel disconnected or on the margins of church life.

We are creating a friendly place where everyone is valued and supported. Our church seeks to educate, equip, and encourage congregations to offer compassionate care, ensuring that those with mental health struggles can find purpose and actively participate in church life.

We welcome individuals from all backgrounds, helping them reconnect with faith and community by embracing people as they are and walking alongside them in their journey.

Life Group

Life Groups are a place to grow together in faith and friendship, sharing, praying, learning, and having fun.

They usually meet every two weeks on Thursdays at 7:30 pm, at various times and locations.

In the coming sessions, we’ll be exploring the Apostles’ Creed, connecting our discussions with Sunday morning sermons. However, you don’t need to attend the Sunday service to take part—each session stands on its own.

If you’re interested in joining a Life Group, speak with one of our Ministers after a Sunday service—we’d love to welcome you!
